From 1 to 30 April, Istanbul will host the 13th annual Tulip Festival (13. Istanbul Lale Festivali), a colorful event that attracts many tourists to Turkey and allows residents of the metropolis to feel the spring.
As always, more than 10 million bright tulips of 200 different varieties will spread out carpets in the largest parks of Istanbul.
This year, the organizers of the festival intend to break their previous record for the largest “carpets of tulips” in Sultanahmet square. To create a composition with an area of 1734 m2 will need 565 thousand colors.
In 2017, the traditional Turkish carpet occupied a symbolic square of 1,453 meters for Istanbul (the year of the conquest of Constantinople)
Istanbul city hall has already published a program of events that will accompany the 13th Tulip Festival. This year, in addition to flowers, sports competitions related to the festival will start: tennis tournaments (April 9-15) and beach soccer (April 24-29).
All the main events of the festival, as usual, will be held in the Park Emirgan, where you can see a great many of the most beautiful tulips. And don’t forget to fully charge your smartphone or camera.
